Bouquets, flavors, colors … a world full of sensations.


These are the words used by the family that owns the txakoli house we visited at the beginning of May, to define their work. We not only tasted some delicious txakoli, but also we had the privilege of visiting their wineries and vineyards.

This unique light wine of the Basque Country, is fruity, slightly sparkling and has a touch of acidity. Its alcohol content is moderate (9.5 ° – 11.5 °) and have to be served very cold. Getaria, together with Zarautz and Aya are the main production areas.

Our hosts welcomed us at the top of the hill surrounded by vineyards with the Cantabrian Sea in the background.

We entered a sophisticated tasting room where they offered us “Rose”, made with red grape variety “Hondarrabi Beltza”, accompanied with fresh Anchovy, achieving a perfect pairing.

The characteristics of each deposit are determined after the first tasting when the best combination is stated, thus defining the profile of the year harvest. To end our visit, we returned to the tasting room where we tasted “Txakoli Arri”, a pale yellow with greenish tones txakoli that reflects the youth and freshness of the product.
